2021-2022 4th graders

Fourth graders are a busy group of students.  We are learning a lot of new things.  Here is a snapshot.

Subject:  Music

Right now we’re learning about:  Recorders and their notes.

Favorite thing we’ve learned:  Bucket drumming which is taking sticks and banging them on buckets

Hardest thing we’ve learned:  Instruments, specifically the brass community

Favorite memory of this class:  Bucket drumming

What we hope to learn before the end of the year:  learn to play recorders with all the notes

Advice for next year’s 4th graders:  be nice to subs

Advice for parents of 4th graders:  be ready for headaches because recorders are coming

Subject:  Spelling

Right now we’re learning about:  Simple words and compound words

Favorite thing we’ve learned:  Totem poles because it is in Nebraska history

Hardest thing we’ve learned:  is fungus because it is our bonus word

Favorite memory of this class:  finding missing words in the sentence

What we hope to learn before the end of the year:  onomatopoeia

Advice for next year’s 4th graders:  learn how to spell music

Subject:  House Group

Right now we’re learning about:  Anthony’s house group is learning how to be kind.

Favorite thing we’ve learned:  Ashton’s favorite thing they’ve learned is about each other.

Hardest thing we’ve learned:  Anthony’s hardest thing he has learned in his house group is working with other grades.

Favorite memory of this class:  Ashton’s favorite memory is playing duck-duck-goose.

What we hope to learn before the end of the year:  Anthony hopes to get to know everybody well.

Advice for next year’s 4th graders:  Ashton’s advice is to be kind to your fellow house companions.

Advice for parents of 4th graders:  Anthony’s advice is to help prevent bullying by teaching you to be kind.

Subject:  Nebraska History

Right now we’re learning about:  Native Americans on the Plains

Favorite thing we’ve learned:  learning about our state symbols, seal and motto, because we got to play a game and make a project

Hardest thing we’ve learned:  Native American on the Plains because you have to memorize where they came from

Favorite memory of the class:  learning the state motto

What we hope to learn before the end of the year:  how was Nebraska declared a state

Advice for next year’s 4th graders:  do bonus work so your grade will improve

Advice for parents of 4th graders:  study for tests or you will regret it

Subject:  Math

Right now we’re learning about:  division facts that end with zero

Favorite thing we’ve learned:  is to times double digits by double digits because it’s easy.

Hardest thing we’ve learned:  points, lines, segments, rays, and angle notes because we get confused.

Favorite memory of this class:  When Mrs. Metschke made the chant “Show your work, Show your work!”

What we hope to learn before the end of the year:  is Roman numerals because we aren’t so good at them.

Advice for next year’s 4th graders:  be in your best learning position so she doesn’t take a hocus pocus star down

Advice for parents of 4th graders:  make sure to look in their planners to see what they did at school.

Subject:  P.E.

Right now we’re learning about:  how to play different sports

Favorite thing we’ve learned:  cricket baseball because we get to hit the ball hard.

Hardest thing we’ve learned:  is tagging up in cricket, it is when someone catches it, you have to go back and touch the base before you can go to the next base.

Favorite memory of this class:  teammates because they help you out in rough times

What we hope to learn before the end of the year:  star mat ball.

Advice for next year’s 4th graders:  be nice to subs or punishment happens and have good sportsmanship.

Advice for parents of 4th graders:  teach sportsmanship to your kids.

Right now we’re learning about:  the whole keyboard-it takes a lot of skill

Favorite thing we’ve learned:  home row because it is fun

Hardest thing we’ve learned:  the whole keyboard because you have to remember it

Favorite memory of this class:  Mrs. Evans because she is nice

What we hope to learn before the end of the year:  the whole keyboard because some people are bad at it

Advice for next year’s 4th graders:  make sure they follow the rules because it is being respectful

Advice for parents of 4th graders:  help them learn the home row

Advice for parents of 4th graders:  the main object is making sure we’re all kind to everyone
